Each workspace uses its own phone number, phone_number_id, WABA ID, and token. The plugin does not store Meta credentials.

Your phone number

Use your own business phone number or a new dedicated number.

Your credentials

Meta credentials belong in the backend per workspace, not in WordPress.

Your data

The store retains ownership of the business account, number, and conversation channel.

Complete setup in 4 steps

This is the MVP semi-manual onboarding path and it matches the backend architecture.

1

Create a WhatsApp Business account

Use Meta Business to create or connect a business account.

  • Go to business.facebook.com
  • Create or open the business account
  • Set up a business phone number
  • Verify ownership
2

Get your API credentials

Collect the values the backend needs per workspace.

  • Access token or system-user token
  • Phone Number ID
  • WhatsApp Business Account ID
  • Webhook verification information
3

Connect the account in the dashboard

The web admin should store the credentials in the backend, encrypted per workspace.

  • Open the WhatsApp connection page
  • Paste WABA ID, phone_number_id, and token
  • Run a test connection
  • Save the mapping
4

Configure webhooks

Use the webhook URL and verify token shown in the dashboard.

  • Copy the webhook URL
  • Paste it into Meta webhook settings
  • Subscribe to message events
  • Send a live test message

Can I use my own phone number?

Yes. In fact, each workspace should use its own number and Meta credentials. Sharing one master number across all clients is the wrong architecture.

Does the plugin store Meta credentials?

No. The plugin only stores the backend URL, plugin API key, and storefront settings. Meta tokens belong in the backend.

Can I test before going live?

Yes. Meta offers test environments and test numbers, and the backend is already set up for webhook verification and signature checks.

Need help with setup?

For first beta stores, guided onboarding is normal. The product should support it.
